World has launched a World ID package for banks and financial firms while making its Zoom identity tool more widely available. The Sam Altman-backed project says the products will help organizations confirm who is behind online meetings, payments, and requests as AI impersonation grows.
World ID Suite Targets Financial Fraud
Co-founder Alex Blania presented the banking package at Money20/20 on October 18. The offering combines an identity wallet, video-call checks, and tools for AI agents acting on behalf of verified users.

World named Bain Capital, Pantera Capital, VanEck Funds, OpenExchange and Outtake as design partners. Its announcement named no bank using the system and gave no pricing. The company says the checks can supplement verification when institutions approve transfers or restore accounts.
Zoom Adds Checks During Meetings
World ID for Zoom is available through the Zoom App Marketplace after testing began in April. Participants first visit World’s Orb device for iris verification and connect their credentials to the meeting platform.
During calls, the system compares an Orb image with a phone selfie and live video. A successful check displays a Human Badge. World says Zoom receives no personal information. Separately, Meta reported a mistaken bot alert involving an AI tool.
Businesses can choose how long badges remain valid before another check. World says its system reviews video frames without recording meeting audio or reading transcripts.
AI Agents Get Identity Controls
World ID also provides tools that let people assign verification credentials to AI agents. Agents can then show that a verified person authorized them without revealing personal details.
AgentKit remains in beta. The release follows wider use of automated payments. A recent report on AI agent transactions found that Coinbase’s x402 protocol logged over 138 million transactions on Base.
Adoption and Privacy Questions Remain
World says more than 18 million people hold its Proof of Human credentials. The World ID app is available in over 150 countries and can also confirm age or nationality.
Separately, an OpenAI agent used an Ethereum testnet wallet without permission, according to an October 16 report. World has not named banks using its tools in production.
The project has faced scrutiny over iris scans. Spain warned Tools for Humanity about plans to resume biometric processing in February 2026, while Indonesia suspended World’s permit in 2025.
