Roblox (RBLX) shares edged slightly higher as investors reacted to the company’s latest upgrade to its AI-powered development tools. The gaming platform is enhancing its Roblox Assistant with new “agentic” capabilities designed to help creators plan, build, and test games more efficiently.
The update signals a deeper push into AI-driven game development, positioning Roblox as a stronger competitor in the rapidly evolving creator economy.
Rather than simply responding to prompts with single-step outputs, the upgraded Assistant is designed to behave more like a collaborative development partner. The shift reflects Roblox’s belief that complex game creation requires iterative planning, feedback, and refinement instead of one-off AI responses.
Planning Mode reshapes creation
At the center of the upgrade is a new feature called “Planning Mode,” which transforms the Assistant into a structured planning system for developers. Instead of immediately generating assets or code, the AI now first analyzes the developer’s intent, asks clarifying questions, and produces editable development plans.
For example, if a creator requests a park-themed mini-game with coin collection mechanics, the Assistant may first ask about visual style preferences such as cartoony, realistic, or fantasy. It may also suggest different ways of building assets, including using models from Roblox’s Creator Store or designing them from scratch.
This planning-first approach allows developers to refine their ideas before implementation begins, reducing mismatches between creative vision and final output.
New tools speed development
Roblox also introduced two additional AI systems: Mesh Generation and Procedural Model Generation. These tools aim to streamline 3D asset creation and reduce reliance on placeholder content during early development stages.

Mesh Generation allows developers to instantly create fully textured 3D objects that can be inserted directly into a game world. Instead of using low-detail temporary assets, creators can quickly generate items like campfires, trees, or furniture and immediately test how they interact with gameplay environments.
Procedural Model Generation goes a step further by allowing editable 3D structures to be created using prompts and code. Developers can dynamically adjust object properties such as staircase height, shelf count, or object scaling based on in-game requirements. This makes assets more flexible and reusable across multiple projects.
AI testing and automation expand
The upgraded Assistant does not stop at creation, it also participates in testing. Roblox says the system can now run playtests, analyze logs, capture screenshots, and simulate player inputs such as keyboard and mouse actions. It then identifies bugs and feeds findings back into the Assistant for automatic improvement.
This creates a feedback loop where the AI continuously refines both gameplay and design decisions. According to Roblox, the system is built around “agentic loops” that improve accuracy over time by learning from testing outcomes and adjusting future development steps.
The company is also exploring multi-agent AI systems that can work in parallel across large workflows, including coding, testing, and character design. Roblox has also indicated plans to integrate third-party tools like Claude, Cursor, and Codex into Roblox Studio for more advanced workflows.
Still, the direction is clear: Roblox is moving beyond being just a gaming platform and deeper into becoming an AI-powered development ecosystem.
