Ethena has expanded the basis trade that backs its USDe stablecoin into tokenized US equities. The protocol will now use Binance bStocks as spot collateral, paired with equity perpetual futures as a hedge.
The change follows approval from Ethena’s Risk Committee. It moves the fund’s delta neutral strategy beyond crypto markets for the first time.
ENA price reacted quickly. The token rose 12% over 24 hours, trading around $0.249 at the time of writing.
Binance bStocks give holders exposure to shares like Nvidia and Tesla without direct ownership. The tokens are backed 1:1 by real securities held through issuer BTech Holdings Limited.

Ethena will short equity perpetual futures against these positions. The goal is to capture the funding spread between spot and derivatives markets, similar to how it trades crypto.
Yield From a New Market
Binance’s equity perpetual open interest has passed $2.9 billion. The equity basis has averaged 3.56% annualized over the past six months.
Ethena Labs founder Guy Young called it the largest expansion of USDe’s funding mechanism since launch. He said equities trade in the hundreds of trillions of dollars globally.
Binance’s Head of Exchange and Trading, Shunyet Jan, said the move reflects growing overlap between crypto and traditional asset markets.
USDe’s backing already includes DeFi lending, stablecoin liquidity, and tokenized real-world assets. Crypto basis trades made up close to 1% of the portfolio as of early July.
Market Reaction and Positioning
ENA’s rise also lines up with a wider rotation into altcoins as Bitcoin traded sideways. DeFi tokens were among the sector’s stronger performers over the same period.
Roughly $150,000 in ENA short positions were liquidated across major exchanges. That added pressure to the upward price move.

Analyst Lana Valentis pointed to the token’s chart setup. She said ENA is consolidating above a broken bullish flag on the daily timeframe, with targets at $0.26, $0.36, $0.55, and $0.84.
Binance has built out its equity products through 2026. The exchange opened access to more than 7,000 US stocks and ETFs in June, followed by bStocks that same month.
TradFi perpetual futures on Binance generated $433.4 billion in volume during August. Equity linked contracts made up roughly $342.9 billion of that total.
The tokenized stock market tracked by Token Terminal reached $2.7 billion in August, up from about $80 million a year earlier. Binance’s bStocks accounted for more than $600 million of that figure.
