Eaton (ETN) shares surged 7.89% in pre-market trading to $417.59 after delivering record second-quarter sales and stronger full-year guidance. The stock had closed 6.91% higher at $386.89 before the company released its results. Electrical and Aerospace growth drove orders, backlog expansion, and improved demand visibility across Eaton’s core markets.
Eaton Posts Record Sales and Adjusted Earnings
Second-quarter sales reached a record $8.5 billion, rising 21% from the same period last year. Organic sales increased 14%, while completed acquisitions added another 7% to reported growth. The organic increase exceeded the upper end of Eaton’s guidance for the quarter.
Eaton reported earnings of $2.11 per share after recording several acquisition and restructuring charges. Adjusted earnings reached a second-quarter record of $3.15 per share after excluding those items. The result reflected higher sales, disciplined execution, and continued demand across major end markets.
Operating cash flow increased 23% to $1.1 billion during the second quarter. Free cash flow rose 22% to $874 million compared with the previous year. Segment margins reached 23.1%, beating guidance but declining 80 basis points from last year.
Electrical Businesses Drive Orders and Backlog Growth
Electrical Americas sales reached a record $4.0 billion after organic sales increased 18%. Operating profit rose 10% to $1.1 billion, while margins improved sequentially to 27.5%. The segment recorded 41% growth in its twelve-month rolling average orders.
Electrical Americas backlog increased 33% from June 2025 as demand remained broad across key markets. Data centers, utilities, industrial projects, and commercial infrastructure continued supporting the segment’s expansion. Eaton also gained from rising spending on electrification, grid upgrades, and digital power systems.
Electrical Global sales climbed 44% to a record $2.5 billion during the quarter. Organic sales grew 18%, while Boyd Thermal contributed 25% in its first full quarter. The segment’s backlog increased 103%, reflecting strong demand across multiple regions and applications.
Aerospace Growth Supports Eaton’s Portfolio Shift
Aerospace sales rose 13% to a record $1.2 billion in the second quarter. Organic sales increased 7%, while an acquisition added another 6% to reported growth. Operating profit advanced 16% to $278 million as margins improved to 22.8%.
Aerospace orders increased 17% on a twelve-month rolling basis, while backlog grew 28%. The segment’s book-to-bill ratio reached 1.2, showing that orders continued exceeding recognized sales. Aircraft production, defense programs, and aftermarket demand supported the segment’s quarterly performance.
Eaton raised its 2026 organic growth forecast to between 11% and 13%. The company expects adjusted earnings between $13.40 and $13.60 per share for the year. Eaton also plans to separate Mobility through a Reverse Morris Trust transaction in early 2027.
