AMD stock is trading around $514, and Wall Street is paying close attention. Stifel just doubled down on its Buy rating with a $635 price target after sitting down with AMD’s investor relations team at an investor conference this week.
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., AMD
The meeting featured AMD’s Matt Ramsey, CVP of Investor Relations, and Prabh Gowrisankaran, Director of IR. The conversation centered on AMD’s server CPU business, with executives expressing clear confidence in the product roadmap.
AMD told investors the move from chatbot inference to agentic inference has structurally increased the CPU total addressable market. The company believes its Venice product is the best agentic CPU on the market right now.
AMD also said it has enough supply to meet current demand. That’s a meaningful statement given how often chipmakers have struggled to keep pace with AI-driven orders.
Server CPU in Focus
On the GPU side, AMD’s MI450/Helios product began revenue shipments this month, right on schedule. That launch runs concurrently with Nvidia’s own ramp, putting both companies in the market at the same time.
AMD flagged that the real constraint on 2027 growth isn’t customer demand but the broader industry’s ability to build servers fast enough. That’s a different kind of problem than a demand issue, and arguably a better one to have.
Stifel said the discussions made it more confident in the durability of AMD’s EPYC server processor ramp. Twenty-seven analysts have revised their earnings estimates upward recently.
Piper Sandler also initiated coverage on AMD with an Overweight rating this week, setting a $600 price target. CLSA lifted its target to $710, citing stronger-than-expected MI-455 GPU sales and upgraded earnings projections for fiscal years 2027 and 2028.
Earnings and Institutional Activity
AMD’s most recent earnings, reported August 4th, showed revenue of $11.54 billion for the quarter, beating the $11.31 billion analyst consensus. EPS came in at $1.66, ahead of the $1.62 estimate.
Revenue was up 50.1% year over year. In the same period last year, AMD posted EPS of just $0.48.
The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company increased its AMD position by 41.5% in Q2, bringing its holdings to nearly 1.97 million shares worth around $1.14 billion. Institutional investors now collectively hold 71.34% of AMD.
Raymond James upgraded AMD to Strong Buy in late August, raising its price target to $641. The consensus analyst rating sits at Moderate Buy with an average target of $565.12.
On the other side, insiders sold $51.9 million worth of stock over the past three months. EVP Jean Hu sold 15,000 shares at $474.08 in late August. EVP Mark Papermaster sold 28,811 shares at $471.87 on August 20th. Both sales were executed under pre-arranged Rule 10b5-1 plans.
ARK Invest’s Cathie Wood continued trimming AMD during this period, reallocating capital toward other AI chip names.
TSMC reported a 53.3% year-over-year jump in August revenue, which supports AMD’s volume outlook but also signals tighter advanced packaging capacity across the board.
