Wintermute Expands Into Regulated U.S. Markets
Wintermute has announced that its U.S. subsidiary, Wintermute USA LLC, is registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and has come on board to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

The registration makes Wintermute USA a regulated proprietary trading firm that can provide liquidity on the national securities exchanges and in the over-the-counter (OTC) markets in the U.S. and other jurisdictions.
It now can trade U.S. equities and equity options on its own behalf, or for itself as an Authorized Participant (AP) in transaction of securities as part of an exchange-traded product, including those that are crypto-trust or cryptolinked equity securities or equity-offices.
The approval will put Wintermute in a better position to service institutional counterparties in the U.S. and help the company grow toward the next wave in financial tokenization, the company said.

Digital Assets and Traditional Finance Continue to Converge
Wintermute founder and CEO Evgeny Gaevoy said the company has always expected digital assets and traditional finance to evolve together rather than compete.
Building Infrastructure for Tokenized Securities
Institutional adoption will grow, and those firms able to bridge the gap between the blockchain-money and traditional financial markets will fare best, Gaevoy said.
With the new status, Wintermute will be able to get more entrenched in securities trading, and feature gold with crypto-linked exchange-traded products. It also establishes a groundwork for further activities in the tokenized securities field, where regulators, asset managers, and exchanges are increasingly focused.
Institutional Expansion Gains Momentum
Wintermute’s current average trading volume is in excess of $10 billion per day and it offers liquidity on over 60 centralized and decentralized exchanges globally.
The business will be run by a dedicated team within the company in New York as it keeps building its relationship with U.S. institutions and regulators, the company’s New York arm said.
The Wall Street Journal also noted that the broker-dealer registration would also help Wintermute gain access to market-making functions on the major exchanges in the United States, like the Nasdaq National Security Marketplace and the New York Stock Exchange, which allow market makers to maintain market liquidity in specific securities.
The new licence should give Wintermute a whole new ability to take on battle with the old line electronic trading companies and bring its experience in liquidity to the regulated financial realm too.
