On revenue, the company now expects organic growth to come in between negative 1% and flat for the full year. The prior guidance called for growth of 1% to 3%.
Executives pointed to weak economic conditions in Argentina and softer hardware sales to merchants as factors that hurt results.
Both Segments Miss
The merchant-solutions segment brought in $2.61 billion in Q2 revenue, down from $2.64 billion a year ago and below the $2.66 billion analyst consensus.
The financial-solutions segment posted $2.36 billion, compared to $2.55 billion in the same period last year. Analysts had been expecting $2.39 billion.
Both misses in the same quarter added to investor concerns about the breadth of the problems at the company.
Seaport Research analyst Jeff Cantwell did not hold back. He called the results “strike twelve” for Fiserv and described it as another “miss and reset.”
“This one seems fairly broad-based, with both segments missing expectations this quarter, and then the across-the-board reductions in the full-year guidance,” Cantwell wrote.
“Our view is there’s not much for investors to be hanging onto here” in the near term, he added.
Management Stays Upbeat
CEO Takis Georgakopoulos, who took over the top role in June following Mike Lyons’ departure to Truist Financial, said the business continues to be supported by volume growth and strong market positions.
CFO Paul Todd said Fiserv was “adjusting” the 2026 forecast but maintained the company’s medium-term growth targets.
This is not the first time Fiserv has disappointed. The company made a similar dramatic cut to growth expectations in 2025, which sent the stock down 67% that year.
Fiserv stock closed at $52.30 on Wednesday before Thursday’s drop.
