Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano, suggested possible collaboration with the XRP community during a recent ask-me-anything (AMA) session. His remarks came shortly after the success of the Midnight airdrop, which included XRP holders among its participants.
Hoskinson said that it would be “a lot of fun” to work with members of the XRP ecosystem. He added that he had a “great” conversation with Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse about potential integration. The Cardano founder also confirmed that Cardano’s Lace wallet will add support for XRP before the end of 2025, continuing its multi-chain development.
The announcement was welcomed by many in the XRP community, with advocates describing it as a positive step toward broader collaboration between blockchain ecosystems.
Midnight Airdrop Expands Participation Across Blockchains
Charles Hoskinson also addressed the progress of the Midnight airdrop, which he described as a success. According to his update, more than 1.6 billion NIGHT tokens have already been redeemed. The distribution covered not only ADA holders but also users of Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, Binance Coin, Avalanche, and Basic Attention Token.
He emphasized that the layered airdrop strategy was designed to involve multiple ecosystems and encourage collaboration. Hoskinson described it as “one of the largest airdrops of all time” and indicated that future cooperation with leaders from other communities could further promote Midnight adoption.
Despite recent concerns raised online about potential manipulation of the airdrop, Hoskinson reiterated that the process has been running smoothly and dismissed misinformation.
XRP Community Reacts to Collaboration Proposal
Charles Hoskinson said he would like to host a joint event with key figures from the XRP community, mentioning pro-crypto lawyer John Deaton as a potential participant.
Deaton responded positively, saying it would be “an honor and pleasure” to collaborate with Hoskinson and other ecosystem leaders.
Community members also reacted to the idea of a Cardano-XRP collaboration. Prominent supporter BankXRP commented that such partnerships fuel innovation, improve security, and help build trust across blockchain networks. The response suggests enthusiasm for broader engagement between the two ecosystems.
Charles Hoskinson Shift in Approach Toward XRP
The remarks mark a change in Hoskinson’s approach toward XRP and its community. In earlier years, he often clashed with members of the group, including over debates surrounding “ETHGate.”
However, Hoskinson has recently adopted a more collaborative stance, voicing support for XRP’s inclusion in U.S. reserve discussions and commenting positively on Ripple’s market role.
By linking XRP support to Cardano’s Lace wallet and suggesting further events with Ripple stakeholders, Hoskinson signaled a growing willingness to strengthen ties. His comments underscore an evolving dynamic, where blockchain ecosystems are exploring ways to cooperate more directly.
