Bitcoin Supporters New York Mayor and Miami Mayor Win Election in Landslide Victories
While Francis Suarez wants his next paycheck to be “100% in Bitcoin,” Eric Adams is all set to compete with Miami and make New York City into a “center of Bitcoins.”
Bitcoiner Miami Mayor Francis Suarez wants to take his next paycheck completely in the leading cryptocurrency.
On Tuesday, Suarez took to Twitter to say that he would accept his entire salary in Bitcoin, which is up 115% YTD while trading above $62,000 as of writing.
Suarez then called out a “Can you help?” in a tweet to the city’s director of innovation and tech, Mike Sarasti.
The same day, in a landslide victory, the Mayor won re-election for his second four-year term and promised “to create the most fair and successful city” in the country and “to create a model that can be scaled into an agenda for America.”

Suarez has been advocating to turn Miami into a crypto hub and has said that he is working on a plan to pay city employees in cryptocurrency. He also said that he would allow Miami residents to pay fees in BTC and even hold bitcoin on the city’s balance sheet.
Another big win for cryptocurrency came this week in the form of Eric Adams, who became the new New York mayor in a landslide election.
61-year-old Adams, who will take the reins from Bill de Blasio, is a Bitcoin advocate who vowed to make New York City into a “center of Bitcoins” during his campaign trail.
“We’re going to bring business here. We’re going to become the center of life science, the center of cybersecurity, the center of self-driving cars, drones, the center of Bitcoins,” Adams said a few months back.
Adams, however, isn’t new to crypto as back in 2015, Adams had described Bitcoin as a “disruptive technology” and announced that, “I want Bitcoin.”
