  • A US intelligence memo reportedly alleges a Megaspeed executive was recruited by China to gather information on Nvidia
  • The Financial Times reported the memo on November 7, and the claims are unproven
  • Nvidia says its internal probe found no wrongdoing and no sensitive data was shared
  • Republican lawmakers have asked for a closed-door briefing with CEO Jensen Huang
  • Megaspeed is under US scrutiny over whether restricted Nvidia chips reached Chinese buyers

A US intelligence memo has put Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at the center of a security story. The Financial Times reported the memo on November 7.

🚨BREAKING: NVIDIA CEO has been summoned before congress on Nov 18 to explain ties to alleged Chinese spy.

U.S Government now suspects NVIDIA chief Jensen Huang had a romantic relationship with an alleged Chinese spy based on American Intelligence memo.

The memo reportedly alleges that Huang had a romantic relationship with Alice Huang. She is a former executive at Megaspeed, a Singapore-based AI infrastructure company.

US officials reportedly believe China’s Ministry of State Security recruited her. The claims have not been proven in public.

What the Intelligence Memo Alleges

TechCrunch reported that the alleged goal was to gather details about Nvidia’s advanced AI chips. The memo also suggests the effort may have aimed to influence decisions on chip exports to China.

Nvidia has denied that any sensitive company information was shared. The company says its internal investigation found no evidence of wrongdoing.

Nvidia also says its regional customers receive ordinary commercial information. It says they do not receive classified material or national security intelligence.

Megaspeed has drawn its own attention from Washington. US officials have looked into whether restricted Nvidia chips reached Chinese customers through middlemen.

Alice Huang held a senior role at the company before leaving. The reports do not say when she left or why.

Taipei Photos Resurface

Photos from June 2024 have now returned to public view. They show Alice Huang with Jensen Huang and other tech executives at a bar in Taipei.

The New York Times reported that the photo appeared on social media before Megaspeed began buying advanced Nvidia chips. The Japan Times republished that report.

The image dates to the time of Computex 2024. That month, Nvidia’s value was nearing $3 trillion.

Another video from the same event also went viral. It showed Huang signing a female fan’s top.

Business Insider documented that earlier encounter. It is not linked to the intelligence claims.

Further reports say the two were later photographed at industry events. Pictures of executives at the same gatherings do not show espionage or wrongdoing. They also do not show the nature of any personal relationship.

Nvidia says contact between its CEO and customers in the region is routine.

Reuters reported that senior Republican lawmakers asked for a closed-door briefing with Jensen Huang. Their concern is possible Chinese access to sensitive American technology.

The request came days before the Financial Times report on the memo. Nvidia has not publicly said whether Huang will attend.

The company already faces limits on exporting its most powerful chips to China. The current claims do not show that Huang gave out confidential information or that Nvidia’s technology was compromised.

Congressional attention, Nvidia’s response and any new findings from US authorities are the next developments to watch.
