The move came on heavy volume of over 7.5 million shares traded, well above its average of around 2.9 million.
The catalyst was a wave of comments from high-profile tech figures over the weekend. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, along with Sam Altman and Elon Musk, called for a voluntary slowdown in frontier AI model development to focus on safety and security.
Amodei specifically warned that unchecked model scaling creates cybersecurity vulnerabilities. He argued that defensive frameworks need to be in place before the next phase of AI training begins.

Strong Q4 Results Laid the Groundwork
The earnings beat earlier this month helped set the stage for Monday’s move. Zscaler reported Q4 non-GAAP EPS of $1.19, beating estimates by $0.10, on revenue of $898.2 million, which came in $20.59 million above consensus.
Revenue grew 25% year-over-year, matching growth in Annual Recurring Revenue, which hit $3.77 billion total.
AI-focused security bookings jumped over 50% sequentially in the quarter. The Z-Flex commercial program generated $770 million in quarterly contract value.
Non-GAAP operating margins hit a record 24.3% in the quarter. For fiscal 2027, the company guided for revenue of $3.91 billion to $3.94 billion.
Restructuring and Risks
Alongside the Q4 results, Zscaler disclosed a restructuring plan that includes a roughly 3% reduction in global headcount. The company said it is redirecting resources toward AI and growth initiatives.
The stock is still down about 27% year-to-date despite Monday’s rally. It continues to post GAAP losses, and recent turnover in sales leadership has raised some questions about deal execution.
