Bitcoin Suisse, the Swiss crypto financial services firm founded in Zug in 2013, has announced plans to cut up to 60 of its 120 Switzerland-based positions as part of a restructuring aimed at expanding its international operations.

The company employs around 200 people globally. If the maximum cuts go ahead, its Swiss workforce would drop to roughly 60 employees.
A staff consultation process is currently underway and will run until September 20. Under Swiss law, affected staff can submit proposals during this period that could reduce or limit dismissals before a final decision is made.
Jobs Moving to Lower-Cost Hubs
The roles at risk are mainly in back-office and administrative functions, along with software development. Bitcoin Suisse said these functions will be consolidated in its international hubs in Bratislava, Slovakia, and a planned new location in Vietnam.
The company has not yet disclosed the exact location, opening date, or investment tied to the Vietnamese hub.
Bitcoin Suisse will also close its IT development office in Copenhagen as part of the reorganisation, removing Denmark from its operating network entirely.
CEO Andrej Majcen said operating costs in the two new hub countries would be lower than in Switzerland. He told Swiss financial publication Finews that the restructuring was not driven by weakness in the crypto market.
Wealth Management Stays in Switzerland
Despite the cuts, Bitcoin Suisse plans to keep its headquarters in Zug. Client-facing wealth management services will remain centred there.
The company frames the overhaul as part of a shift from a mainly Swiss crypto firm to a broader international financial services group.
In June, Bitcoin Suisse said it was targeting institutional clients, family offices, asset managers, and high-net-worth individuals as it builds out a global wealth management platform.
The company holds 3 billion Swiss francs in crypto assets under custody and reported 95 million Swiss francs in equity as of January 2026.
Bitcoin Suisse also secured licences in Liechtenstein and Bermuda earlier this year. Its Middle East unit received full regulatory approval in Abu Dhabi in July, where it offers trading, custody, staking, and lending services.
The company previously applied for a Swiss banking licence in 2021, but withdrew the application after the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority indicated approval was unlikely, citing weaknesses in its anti-money laundering controls.
Bitcoin Suisse has confirmed that the job cuts will not affect client custody, trading, staking, or lending services. The announcement is limited to staffing and the restructuring of back-office and technical operations.
Final decisions on the number and distribution of affected positions will follow once the September 20 consultation period closes.
