- BTC is currently trading around $76,930–$78,000, down 5.4% over the past seven days

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong told CNBC on September 10 that Bitcoin reaching $400,000 by 2030 is a “reasonable target.” Bitcoin would need to rally around 420% from its current price of roughly $76,930 to get there.

Armstrong pointed to Bitcoin’s four-year cycle as a key reason for his outlook. He noted that most down periods last about a year, and this one has just passed that mark.
“Most of the down periods last about a year, and we have actually just come across the 1-year mark for this down period, so I personally believe that the bottom is in on BTC in its most recent cycle,” Armstrong said.
He also flagged two upcoming events traders are watching. The first is the CLARITY Act, which faces a procedural Senate vote on September 15. The second is the next Bitcoin halving, around 18 to 19 months away.
Armstrong added that stronger ETF demand, White House pressure on regulators, and Bitcoin’s fixed supply of 21 million coins all support his long-term view. He also said there is a good chance Bitcoin reclaims $100,000 by the end of 2026.
This $400,000 target is lower than Armstrong’s earlier prediction of $1 million by 2030.
Analyst Sees Explosive 1.6 Years Ahead
Analyst Jesse Myers pointed to Bitcoin’s halving history to map out a possible path. He noted Bitcoin rallied roughly 100x after the 2012 halving, 30x after 2016, and 8x after 2020, before traders started front-running the event in 2024.
“If the same pattern plays out this cycle, the next 1.6 years could be the most explosive time for BTC,” Myers wrote. His model puts Bitcoin at $232,000 by the April 2028 halving, then $464,000 by late 2029.
Binance founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao also weighed in, saying Bitcoin could overtake gold in the next bull run. “The market gives you plenty of opportunities to enter. All you have to do is to make the right decisions,” CZ said on Thursday.
ETF Flows Show Cracks
On-chain firm Glassnode noted that US spot Bitcoin ETFs have climbed back toward their break-even level, with institutional cost basis now acting as a resistance point.

ETFs pulled in $986.9 million in the week ended September 4, extending a three-week run worth about $3.8 billion. However, the current week shows $166.9 million in net outflows, which would snap that streak if it holds.
Polymarket data shows 64% of prediction market participants expect Bitcoin to reach $85,000 by December 31, 2026.
