Key Takeaways

  • Bitcoin climbed back to $82,000 this week, giving the bulls a great deal more to cheer about.
  • All 11 AI models see BTC ending 2026 higher, with calls ranging from $84,500 to $105,480.
  • Deepseek is the big bull at $105,480, while Claude Opus 5 plays it safer at $84,500.

This week bitcoin’s price reached $82,000 again, and this has caused a great deal of positive sentiment to rain down on the community after a long bear cycle. We don’t know if the bottom was in or if the bear is officially over, but we do know that a great deal of influencers, luminaries, and Wall Street analysts are sharing bullish predictions. For instance, Wall Street research firm Bernstein thinks six-digit bitcoin prices could come to fruition this year.

Brian Vieten, senior portfolio manager at Siebert Financial, told Bitcoin.com News that he thinks bitcoin’s price could tap $175,000 next year. Implementation of the GENIUS Act will “mark the next major adoption catalyst,” Vieten told our newsdesk. But seeing how we asked 11 AI models back in May to predict the price of bitcoin at the end of 2026, we decided to try the experiment again and query the same models.

QOMEX Summit 2026 to Bring Together the Leaders Shaping the Future of Digital Commerce in the UAE

September 7, 2026

Well, at least as closely as we can, most of the model’s have upgraded their version histories a great deal since May. In this specific test, we leveraged the following AI models: Claude Sonnet 5, Grok, Qwen 3.7+, ChatGPT Sol Instant, Pi AI, Mistral AI Vibe, Deepseek Deepthink, Gemini Pro, Venice AI, Claude Opus 5, and Microsoft Copilot. We also used pretty much the same prompt as we did back then, but tweaked the price points and dates to match current statistics.

The prompt used for this experiment was:

“This intellectual exercise crafts a forward-looking framework for bitcoin’s valuation at the close of Dec. 31, 2026. The asset notched an unprecedented high of $126,272 in Oct. 2025. Entering the first week of September, its price sits just above $79,000 after dipping to a low of $76,200 on Sept. 2, 2026. As a seasoned crypto analyst in the bitcoin arena, you are tasked with outlining the currency’s potential year-end trajectory and offering a crisp, coherent rationale for your estimate in two to three sentences (max). Determine the definitive closing price of BTC on Dec. 31, 2026, and state your projected U.S. dollar valuation for bitcoin as that day comes to an end. What is your estimation?”

Claude Sonnet 5 answer:

Given the pullback from the October 2025 peak near $126K down toward the $76K–$79K zone, the setup looks like a deep corrective phase testing prior demand levels rather than a structural breakdown — historically these ranges have acted as accumulation zones before Q4 rallies tied to ETF flows and halting-cycle seasonality. My estimate: BTC closes 2026 around $98,500, reflecting a partial recovery of roughly 25-30% off current levels as institutional buying resumes and macro conditions (rate cuts, risk-on sentiment) improve into year-end, though it likely falls short of reclaiming the October ATH.

Grok answer:

Qwen 3.7+ answer:

Following the post-peak consolidation of 2026, bitcoin is poised for a fourth-quarter recovery driven by renewed institutional accumulation and anticipated macroeconomic liquidity easing. Despite the early September dip to $76,200, tightening exchange supplies and historical year-end rally patterns support a steady upward trajectory from the current $79,000 baseline. Consequently, my definitive projected closing valuation for bitcoin on December 31, 2026, is $98,500.

ChatGPT Sol Instant answer:

My definitive Dec. 31, 2026, closing-price estimate: $96,500 per bitcoin. I expect bitcoin to spend the final four months of 2026 grinding higher from the $79,000 area, supported by renewed spot ETF demand and improving technical structure, but tighter-than-expected Federal Reserve policy should restrain a full return to the $126,272 record.

Projected Dec. 31 close: $96,500.

Pi AI answer:

Based on current momentum and macro trends, bitcoin is likely to close 2026 near $98,000. This reflects steady institutional adoption and inflation-hedging demand, building on its recent high of $82,272 in early September.

Gemini Pro answer:

Projected Dec. 31, 2026 Closing Price: $88,500

Following the steep post-peak drawdown from the October 2025 high of $126,272, the recent floor established above $76,200 indicates that forced spot selling has reached late-stage exhaustion. As fourth-quarter institutional rebalancing and seasonal liquidity absorb remaining overhead inventory, the market is set for a measured mean-reversion bounce toward intermediate resistance rather than a prolonged continuation of the bear trend. Consequently, diminishing year-end volatility and steady spot accumulation project a stabilized closing valuation of $88,500 as 2026 draws to a close.

Venice AI answer:

Projected BTC closing price on December 31, 2026: $94,500

Having established a higher low near $76,200 after a 40% drawdown from the October 2025 peak, bitcoin enters Q4 positioned for a measured recovery rally driven by institutional reaccumulation and year-end portfolio rebalancing. Historical cycles suggest that post-correction rebounds in the final quarter typically reclaim 60-75% of prior losses, implying a return toward the mid-$90K range without fully retesting the all-time high. Absent systemic macro shocks, this trajectory balances technical repair with the maturing market’s reduced volatility profile.

Claude Opus 5:

$84,500.

Bitcoin is trading in a compressed range with $77,057 as the floor and $82,656 as the level that has to break to open $91,719, and the near-term macro is hostile: CME FedWatch now puts a 25bp hike this month at roughly 66%, a sharp reversal from last week, while renewed U.S.-Iran strikes are pulling risk assets lower. My base case is that the hike gets absorbed by October, war risk premium decays, and Q4 flows carry BTC through the $82,656 breakout but stall well short of six figures, with $3.0 billion in long liquidation leverage sitting below spot on Binance alone capping any impulsive move higher.

Forecast, not investment advice.

Today’s Top AI Models Are A lot More Conservative Than in May

The chatbot’s answers were surprisingly close, and among the whole group of 11 models, $96,500 was the median forecast. The mid-$90,000s bitcoin price stands roughly 21% higher than current values. In this test, Claude Opus was the most conservative, while Deepseek’s prediction was a lot more bullish.

Alongside this, the whole group is way more conservative than the models were back in May 2026. The 11 model average for that case was $102,305 per coin, and many of the chatbot forecasts stood around six figures. What’s also interesting is that Deepseek’s May prediction for year-end BTC prices stood at $84,500, the most bearish forecast in that batch.

Since the dawn of the Bitcoin network, people have been trying to predict BTC’s future value. Just days after the protocol launched on Jan. 3, 2009, on Jan. 10, computer scientist Hal Finney projected that the price of bitcoin could theoretically reach about $10 million per unit. Nowadays, predictions are all over the place as speculation is often rampant in financial markets.

And while bitcoin price predictions are entertaining to compare and AI routinely produces some fascinating answers, bitcoin has a long record of making even the sharpest forecasts look foolish, so every prediction is best served with a hefty grain of salt.
