Despite the strong quarter, CHPT is still down roughly 28% over the past three months and more than 51% over the past 12 months. The premarket pop brings the stock to $6.14, still well below its 52-week high of $12.61.
Gross Margin Improvement
ChargePoint posted a non-GAAP gross margin of 38% for the quarter. That is up 600 basis points from Q1 and up 500 basis points from Q2 of last year.
Worth flagging: that 38% figure includes a one-time tariff refund of $4.2 million. Strip that out, and the adjusted gross margin sits closer to 35%.
The company also reported an adjusted EBITDA loss of $5 million for the quarter.
The gross margin trend has been one of the cleaner stories in the report. Moving from the low 30s toward the upper 30s over recent quarters shows some operational progress, even if profitability is still a ways off.
