XRP Ledger is entering a new phase as its first privacy-focused amendment moves into the voting process.
XRPL Foundation director of community Hussein Zangana (Vet) highlighted this milestone in a recent X post. “The XRP Ledger introduced its first privacy amendment for voting. Allowing balances and transfer amounts of tokens on XRPL to be encrypted without a private walled garden chain. Privacy on XRP,” Vet wrote.
The XRP Ledger version 3.3.0, launched this week, introduced several new amendments, including Confidential Transfer, which adds private transfers for Multi-Purpose Tokens. This is notably the first XRPL privacy amendment.
Confidential Transfer (Privacy-preserving Multi-Purpose Token transfers, XLS-0096) allows private, auditable transactions for Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPTs).
The Confidential Transfers feature provides institutional-grade privacy for multi-purpose tokens using advanced cryptography (EC-ElGamal and ZKPs). Individual balances and transfer amounts remain shielded from the public ledger while compliance mechanisms for authorized parties (issuers, auditors, or designated entities) are maintained to verify total supply and meet regulatory obligations.
This week, the On-Chain Cosigner proposal was submitted. On-Chain Cosigner brings native multi-signature proposal and collection to the XRP Ledger, allowing streamlined on-chain coordination for transactions.
XRP fix upgrade ahead
The latest XRP Ledger version 3.3.0 introduces the fixCleanup3_3_0 amendment, a bundle of amendment-gated bug fixes.
