Nvidia has secured a long-term AI memory supply agreement with South Korea’s SK Hynix, part of a broader partnership with SK Group valued at over $500 billion. The deal was announced late Friday at an AI summit in San Francisco, attended by South Korean officials including President Lee Jae Myung.
NVDA stock closed at $206.84, down 0.92% on the day, with after-hours trading showing minimal movement.
The agreement covers AI factory construction and AI memory supply. SK Telecom, an SK Group affiliate, will build a 2-gigawatt AI cloud facility using Nvidia’s DSX platform and Vera Rubin accelerated computing. That facility is expected to come online in 2027.
SK Hynix is the leader in high-bandwidth memory production, and Nvidia has been moving fast to lock in supply as the AI boom has created a global HBM shortage.

“The expansion will include a co-develop opportunity for us on the next-generation SK Hynix AI memory, and this will help us secure a stable supply of HBM memory,” said Raj Mirpuri, Nvidia’s enterprise vice president.
The two companies will co-develop and optimize next-generation AI memory solutions, including future generations of high-bandwidth memory beyond HBM4.
A Broader Push Into Asia-Pacific AI Infrastructure
The partnership signals that large-scale AI infrastructure is no longer just a hyperscaler story. Foreign governments and major conglomerates are now entering the picture in a meaningful way.
Jensen Huang said South Korea has what it takes to become a global AI powerhouse, pointing to its networks, data centers, chip technology, and industrial scale.
SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won said competitiveness in the AI era depends not just on how AI is used, but on how much intelligence can be produced.
Nvidia also announced a $1 billion investment in Naver, a Korean cloud company building data centers around Nvidia GPUs. The project targets 200 megawatts of capacity and is aimed at giving customers in South Korea and globally early access to AI computing resources.
Samsung and Broadcom Also Make Moves
Separately, Samsung Electronics signed a $200 billion memorandum of understanding with Broadcom to expand collaboration across memory and foundry technologies. Samsung said the deal is intended to support the next generation of AI infrastructure.
SK Hynix listed on the Nasdaq earlier this month as part of an effort to finance its infrastructure growth plans.
SK Group is South Korea’s second-largest conglomerate, with over 175 affiliate companies and more than 100,000 employees worldwide. It operates across AI, semiconductors, energy, and life sciences.
