Key Takeaways

  • Ripple invested in Notabene to strengthen infrastructure for compliant institutional stablecoin payments.
  • RLUSD will be integrated into Notabene Flow, the company’s B2B stablecoin payments platform, with broader collaboration on payment authorization.
  • Notabene says its network spans more than 2,300 institutions across over 100 jurisdictions and facilitates more than $2 trillion in annualized transaction volume.

Notabene Announces Ripple Investment

Notabene, a New York-based provider of compliance and transaction authorization infrastructure for digital asset payments, announced on July 23 that it had received a strategic investment from Ripple. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Alongside the investment, the companies will integrate the Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin into Notabene Flow, the company’s business-to-business stablecoin payments platform, while exploring how Notabene’s transaction authorization capabilities can complement Ripple Payments. The goal is to help banks, payment providers, and other regulated institutions move stablecoins while verifying counterparties and meeting compliance requirements before funds are transferred.

Notabene said its open network connects more than 2,300 regulated institutions across over 100 jurisdictions, serves more than 280 customers, and facilitates more than $2 trillion in annualized transaction volume. The platform combines Travel Rule compliance with pre-transaction verification and authorization to reduce risk in institutional digital asset transfers.

Partnership Expands RLUSD’s Enterprise Reach

The collaboration reflects growing demand for infrastructure that enables financial institutions to move from stablecoin pilots to production. Through Notabene Flow, the company is expanding beyond compliance into payment coordination for enterprise use cases such as recurring payments, pull payments, and automated invoicing.

For Ripple, the investment expands RLUSD’s presence in enterprise payments and gives the stablecoin access to Notabene’s extensive network of regulated digital asset institutions. It also strengthens Ripple’s ability to connect stablecoin settlement with the compliance and authorization controls financial institutions require before approving transactions.

RLUSD’s monthly third-party reserve attestations provide institutions with updated information about its circulating supply and supporting reserve assets, adding another layer of transparency for organizations evaluating the stablecoin for payments and treasury operations.

Regulation Fuels Demand for Compliance

The investment also comes as regulators around the world continue introducing clearer rules for stablecoins, encouraging broader institutional adoption. Recent examples include the U.S. GENIUS Act, which established a federal framework for payment stablecoins, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.’s proposed reserve and risk-management standards for FDIC-supervised stablecoin issuers.

The European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets framework, known as MiCA, provides another example of this trend, creating a harmonized regulatory regime for crypto-asset issuers and service providers. Together, these developments illustrate the broader global push toward clearer digital asset rules, increasing demand for infrastructure that combines blockchain settlement with identity verification, transaction authorization, and regulatory compliance.

Ripple has continued expanding RLUSD through a series of enterprise payment partnerships. One example is its stablecoin settlement expansion with Bitso, an early RLUSD exchange partner that helped extend access to institutional payment flows across U.S.-Latin America corridors.

Notabene said it will leverage Ripple’s enterprise ecosystem to accelerate the global rollout of Notabene Flow while pursuing additional partnerships with financial institutions seeking to deploy compliant stablecoin payment products.
