MV250 expands BETA’s defense aviation portfolio
BETA introduced the MV250 during the Farnborough International Airshow as an autonomous hybrid-electric VTOL aircraft. The company designed the platform for military logistics across contested and remote operating environments. The aircraft targets longer range, greater payload capacity, and lower operating costs.
The MV250 offers a reposition range of 1,300 nautical miles under its published specifications. It also carries a 2,000-pound payload across a tactical range of 250 nautical miles. The aircraft combines higher speed with reduced maintenance requirements through its simplified hybrid-electric architecture.
BETA based the MV250 on technologies already operating in its ALIA aircraft platform. The company reused flight controls, propulsion systems, software, batteries, and manufacturing processes. The approach reduces development costs while supporting faster production and deployment.
Partnerships support propulsion and autonomous capabilities
BETA developed the aircraft’s hybrid-electric turbogenerator with GE Aerospace under their Joint Technology Development Agreement. The propulsion system extends operational range while supplying ground-based electrical power for auxiliary equipment. The design integrates CT7 and T700 turbine technology with advanced electrical systems.
The company stated that the mechatronic design improves efficiency, lowers weight, increases durability, and reduces system costs.
